Bunny Spin Art
Next post
Any excuse to use our Ikea salad spinners is a good excuse for us. The boys would pick it over just about any other craft activity most days. So of course we had to make some bunnies to decorate our front window for Easter!
This setup was simple! I cut out some bunnies from cardstock one night after the boys went to bed so they were ready to go. Then I set it out with our salad spinners and Ikea Mala paints. The boys pretty much knew what to do from there 😉
Pro-tip: put a small piece of tape on the back so when you pull them out and move them to a drying table they don’t blow away! Especially useful if you do this outside 😉
Next time, I’ll only set out a couple colors. I gave them all 16, and it was a little chaotic. They both wanted to use all the colors on all the bunnies. I try to be pretty easy-going with how they use supplies (if they aren’t hurting anyone then no harm, no foul), but using all the paint wasn’t flying with me. You live and you learn 🤷♀️ I’ll let them pick a few colors and we can set limits and still have plenty of fun!
“LOOK MAMA!!”
Colston had this same excited reaction EVERY.SINGLE.TIME he opened the lid. Pure Joy. And it was infectious. I found myself watching his face light up more than I watched how the bunnies turned out.
The reactions to process art simply cannot be beat. The pieces are all different and unique 😍
After they were dry, I hot glued a pom pom on each one to finish off the bunny look. Then, I strung them on some yarn and hung them in our front window. I love pulling up to the house and seeing these bright bunnies just waiting for us. The boys pick a favorite every time we pull in and hearing them decide which part catches their eye is always fascinating! They pick up on something different each time and I find myself looking closer to see what they see.
